Management and Control Structures for Migration Funds 
17-18/Nov/2011 • Maastricht


Using a bottom-up approach, this seminar will cover the funding mechanisms for migration and asylum within and outside of Europe, as well as integration, management of the external borders and return. In particular, it will focus on the four funds of the General Programme “Solidarity and management of migration flows” and the Thematic Programme.

The seminar will explain the Project Cycle Management Approach, focusing on theoretical and practical analysis of the grant application process. It will provide key findings in developing innovative actions under new and past calls for proposals and analyse how specific Member States have implemented funding actions. The seminar will also examine programming principles and deficiencies, monitoring methods, evaluation indicators and financial controls. With the advent of new calls for proposals in a pilot project on refugee resettlement and external cooperation, future funding opportunities for migration and asylum will also be discussed.

“New Perspective for Science Education” International Conference which will take place in Florence

Italy 8 – 9 March 2012.
 
The objective of the conference  is to promote the sharing of good practice and transnational cooperation in the field of innovation for Science Education. The conference is also an excellent opportunity for the presentation of previous and current projects in the field of science.
 
The Call for Papers is addressed to science teachers and experts as well as to coordinators of science projects and initiatives.
 
We would like to encourage you to submit an abstract of a paper to present during the conference. The abstract should be written in English (300 words) and sent via e-mail to science@pixel-online.net no later than 14 November 2011.

How Can Member States Better Promote Cross-Border Mobility? Free Movement of Persons, Recognition of Qualifications and Social Security Rights 
15-16/Dec/2011 • Maastricht


The seminar will address problematic areas of free movement and examine ways of helping Member State authorities to properly transpose and apply the provisions of Directive 2004/38/EC. It will also examine the state of play of the evaluation of the Professional Qualifications Directive 2005/36/EC, issues of business mobility and common problems of implementation, including enforcement, recent case law and instruments for modernisation. Furthermore, the seminar will focus on the social protection of mobile workers so as to enhance occupational mobility. In this context, it will analyse the provisions for the coordination of social security rights for EU citizens and legally residing third-country nationals and give concrete examples on the legislative changes on social security law.
